Efflorescence
Newfields, Indianapolis Museum of Art, USA
Exhibited: 23rd October 2026
Location: Efroymson Family Entrance Pavilion
Efflorescence transforms the Efroymson Family Entrance Pavilion at Newfields into an immersive installation of over one million dried flowers and plant materials from Rebecca Louise Law’s archive, alongside approximately 37,000 flowers and plants harvested from the Newfields grounds.
Created in collaboration with the Indianapolis community, the installation brings together materials gathered from different places and carefully preserved, prepared and assembled by many hands.
The title Efflorescence describes the moment of flowering or coming into bloom. Through this suspended landscape, Law explores the relationship between people and nature, reflecting on the cycles of growth, change and renewal.
Visitors are invited to move beneath the cascading layers of flowers, experiencing the natural world from a new perspective and considering the connections between people, place and the environment.
